Currency

The currency in Québec is the Canadian dollar (CAD). There is an exchange office right across the street at the National Bank, where you can be confident that you'll get the correct exchange rate of the day. To get an idea of the relative value of the Canadian dollar compared to your own currency, visit The Universal Currency Converter at http://www.xe.net/ucc/.

Climate

What a joy to have 4 glorious seasons in Québec! True, it means that the weather varies a lot throughout the year, but if you come prepared you'll love the variety. Here's what you can expect:

Spring brings sunny thaws and new beginnings. The weather fluctuates between cool days and warm, as the new season slowly convinces the old to relinquish its snowy grip on the province. Best to pack both a winter coat and a spring jacket for every eventuality.

During the summer, temperatures can rise to 25°C (75°F) or higher. Perfect weather for all sorts of outdoor activities! Towards the end of August, you can expect the nights to start getting cooler.

Fall weather is fresh and fantastic, and you'll see all sorts of marvellous colours on the trees. Not too cool and not too warm, Québec autumns call for light sweaters or jackets.

And finally, to end the year, the famous and invigorating Québec winter. We have a lot of snow here, which makes Québec one of the most popular areas for winter sports such as skiing. Yes, the days can be cold, but as long as you're dressed properly for it, you'll love exploring the beauty that this quintessentially Canadian season has to offer.
